Equitum Robotics

FRC team 6860, Equitum Robotics, is from International High School in Paterson NJ. During their first year of Competition, in 2018, the team had recruited about 40 members. Out of these 40 bright individuals, almost 50% of them were female.

Within the team, there are many divisions and committees where people can do what they do best to support the team. Whether your talent is in building the robot itself or simply bringing awareness to the team, there is always something for someone to do. These committees include Design, Programming, Mechanical, Electrical, Fundraising/Business, Safety, and Writing/Photography. The team's mission is to strive to improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills, promote teamwork and cooperation, maintain an open mind, encourage STEM interests, and as always, to have fun and make new friends along the journey!

In the beginning, the team faced many issues. They lacked knowledge, finance, and support just to name a few. However, even though the odds were stacked up against them, they did not lose hope and give up. They came up with a creative way of fundraising gained the respect of other teams and at the end, beats the odds. They showed that no matter what you can always overcome anything and everything.

During the first year, the team obtained four awards and a medal. They had also qualified to compete in the 2018 World Championship at Detroit. This accomplishment would have never happened without the help and support of friends, families, sponsor, and even other teams. They had and still play a pivotal role in the team's success.
